Provider-Agnostic AI Agent in Rust (Private Project)

I worked in Rust on a private AI agent system for a third-party company: provider-agnostic by design, with a multi-layer architecture.

What I worked on

This was private work for a third-party company, so I can describe the engineering shape rather than the product. The system is an AI agent written in Rust, designed from the start to be provider-agnostic: model providers sit behind one interface and can be swapped without rewriting the agent around them.

The architecture is deliberately layered. Provider access, agent reasoning and orchestration, tools, and the outer interfaces each live in their own layer with clear boundaries, so behaviour can be tested and replaced piece by piece instead of as one tangled whole.

Rust earns its place in systems like this: predictable performance, strong typing across layer boundaries, and concurrency you can reason about when many agent steps and tool calls are in flight at once.

What it brings together

  • Provider-agnostic model access
  • Multi-layer agent architecture
  • Rust systems programming
  • Private third-party engagement
